🌍✨
I’m beyond excited to share some amazing news with you all, I’ve been selected as one of the 2025–2026 Obama Foundation Leaders! To even write those words feels surreal, but it’s a reminder that our stories, our struggles, and our dreams truly matter.
Most of my teenage years were spent in Banjor community, District #17, Montserrado, Liberia. Back then, teenage pregnancy was a norm, opportunities were scarce, and youth capacity development was almost nonexistent. So many young people with so much potential were idle, with no one investing in their growth. That was what I saw growing up, but it’s not the path I chose.
I decided to be different. Instead of watching problems pile up, I wanted to be part of the solution. That decision is what led me to become a youth development practitioner. From managing the Young Political Leadership School Africa, to serving on the UN Youth Advisory Panel and the National Youth Advisory Council to the President of Liberia, and mentoring young girls at Girls Lead Liberia Movement and the Progressive Girls for Transformative Change (PROGAC), my work has always been about one thing: ensuring that young people are not just seen, but heard, empowered, and given the chance to lead.
Being selected as an Obama Africa Leader is a huge privilege, but it’s not just about me. It’s about every young person who dares to believe that their background does not define their destiny. It’s about those of us who look around, see problems, and choose to roll up our sleeves and work toward solutions.
Over the next six months, I’ll be joining 34 other extraordinary African changemakers for a leadership journey hosted by the Obama Foundation. Together, we’ll meet virtually each week for sessions designed to sharpen our leadership skills, build deep relationships, and engage with thought leaders from across Africa and the world. We’ll also connect with mentors and members of the Foundation’s global network all with one goal: to drive innovative change in our communities.
This program is close to President Obama’s heart. Drawing on his Kenyan heritage, he has made supporting emerging African leaders a key priority of his post-presidency. Since its launch in 2018, the Leaders Africa program has been building a powerful network of Africans leading in areas like public health, democracy, climate action, and advancing rights, equity, and inclusion. To now join this community feels like both a responsibility and an opportunity.
I am ready to learn, grow, and bring back skills that will strengthen youth participation in governance, democracy, and inclusive development across Liberia and Africa.
So yes, Banjor girl is now an Obama Africa Leader. 💪🏽 The journey continues, and the best is yet to come.
